Students awaiting their 2024 WASSCE results may face further delays into the new year as financial constraints hinder the release process.
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has revealed that the government owes the body GH₵118 million for conducting the exams.
Additionally, GH₵25 million is needed to repair malfunctioning scanners crucial for processing objective test results.
WAEC's Head of Public Relations, John Kapi, confirmed that with no set release date, the results will only be processed once the funds are made available.
WAEC's office is on break until December 20, and staff will return only when the financial issues are resolved. This marks an unprecedented delay in the release of WASSCE results.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Ranking Member on Parliament’s Education Committee, Dr. Clement Apaak, has disclosed that the government is processing GH₵25 million for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
