The President of the Ghana Union of Traders’ Association (GUTA), Dr. Joseph Obeng, has urged the Mahama government to avoid introducing new taxes in the upcoming 2025 Budget.
His call comes ahead of the Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson's budget presentation on March 11, 2025.
While the government has pledged to remove certain levies, including the e-levy and betting tax, traders remain concerned about potential new tax policies.
Dr. Obeng warned against increasing the tax burden on compliant businesses and instead advocated for expanding the tax net to include those currently not paying.
He praised the finance minister’s engagement with traders, describing it as a positive step toward addressing their concerns.
