Retired senior police officer ACP Dr. Benjamin Kwasi Agordzo has called on President-elect John Dramani Mahama to avoid extending the tenure of the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, beyond January 7, 2025.
Dr. Agordzo warned that some officers might mobilize to forcibly remove Dampare if he remains in office after that date.
While acknowledging Dampare's efforts to renovate the Police Headquarters, he criticized his leadership for failing to improve the welfare of personnel.
“Dampare should not stay there beyond January 7. If the president-elect makes that mistake, officers will take action,” Dr. Agordzo emphasized, urging the incoming administration to prioritize the well-being of police officers over infrastructure beautification.
