Archbishop Charles Agyinasare, founder of Perez Dome Chapel International, has a message for President John Dramani Mahama. He urged the President not to underestimate the trust Ghanaians have shown him after his electoral victory.
In an interview on Prime Morning with Roselyn Felli, the Archbishop called the election outcome “unprecedented.” He emphasized that Ghanaians have essentially entrusted their lives to the President’s leadership.
“What God did for him in this election is unprecedented,” he said. “Ghanaians were telling him, Mr. President, we have given you our lives.” With two-thirds of Parliament, he noted, Mahama can do anything he wants.
The Archbishop explained that Ghanaians want to remove obstacles from the President's path. They want him to pass any law he deems necessary.
However, Agyinasare warned that such power carries great responsibility. It could lead to positive change or become a dangerous temptation.
“There are two ways it could go,” he cautioned. “Either the power corrupts him or it makes him reflect deeply and act responsibly.”
He stressed that this election was more than just a political win; it was a sacred trust.
“Mahama shouldn’t take what we did in this last election for granted,” he said. “We gave our lives to him.”
