Don’t undertake any capital expenditure activity – Mahama to MMDCDs

President John Dramani Mahama has instructed all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Coordinating Directors (MMDCDs) to take over administrative duties for their respective assemblies following the termination of all Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) and appointed Assembly Members, effective January 8, 2025.

In a statement issued by Amin Abdul-Rahman, Chief Director of the Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation, and Rural Development, MMDCDs were cautioned against engaging in any capital expenditure-related activities during the interim period.

Outgoing MMDCEs and Assembly Members have been directed to hand over government properties and relevant documents to MMDCDs to ensure continuity in daily administration until new appointments are made.

The directive aims to ensure a smooth transition while upholding fiscal discipline.
