Donald Trump’s government set to recognise only two genders

US President Donald Trump has unveiled a major policy shift, asserting that the US government will officially recognize only two genders—male and female—and that gender cannot be changed.

In his inaugural address, Trump pledged to eliminate diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives within federal agencies, withdraw funding for such programs, and review offices that were renamed under DEI-related policies.

While this move targets federal efforts, it remains unclear whether these changes will extend to private sector companies.

Major corporations have responded differently: some, like McDonald’s and Walmart, have scaled back DEI efforts, while companies like Apple, Target, and Costco continue to defend their commitment to these programs.

Critics argue that DEI initiatives help address systemic discrimination, particularly in light of recent racial justice movements.
