Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu appointed as Acting Government Statistician

President John Mahama has appointed Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu as Acting Government Statistician, pending consultations with the Council of State.

Dr. Iddrisu, an experienced economist, currently serves as the Director of the Economic Strategy and Research Division at the Ministry of Finance.

He has contributed significantly to shaping Ghana’s macroeconomic policies, particularly in economic forecasting and policy research.

Dr. Iddrisu brings over a decade of experience in public service and has held leadership roles in the Ministry of Finance, including overseeing macroeconomic modeling and projections.

His expertise in economic policy and development is further enhanced by his academic qualifications, including a PhD in International Development Studies from Japan's National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies.

Once confirmed, Dr. Iddrisu will lead the Ghana Statistical Service, playing a key role in data-driven policymaking and national development.

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, President Mahama's spokesperson, emphasized that Dr. Iddrisu’s leadership will strengthen Ghana’s statistical systems and support evidence-based governance.
