Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, spoke at the UEW Public Lecture Series on April 11, 2025. He shared personal stories that made the audience laugh and reflect.
He recalled his last visit to the hall. “It was a very charged atmosphere,” he said. At that time, he was hoping to be re-elected as MP for Busa South. Now, he returns as both MP and Deputy Minister for Education.
Dr. Apaak also shared a light moment with the Vice Chancellor of UEW. He said, “When we met, he told me, ‘This is an academic institution – no politics.’ I agree.” This comment drew laughter from the audience.
In a humorous tone, he expressed admiration for his senior brother, Professor Lumumba. “When I grow up, I want to be like him,” he joked. He added that they both enjoy morning coffee.
Dr. Apaak praised UEW for their punctuality at events. “I’ve waited 30 minutes or more at other events,” he noted. “But here, you started right on time.” He commended the Vice Chancellor, lecturers, management, and students for this achievement.
