Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson and Energy Minister John Abdulai Jinapor held talks with key power sector stakeholders.
The meeting took place at the Ministry of Finance. Decision-makers from several organizations attended, including ECG, VRA, GRIDCo, the Energy Commission, and PURC.
Dr. Forson highlighted the impact of unreliable power on Ghana’s economy. He stated that stable electricity is essential for national development.
He said, “We cannot grow our economy or support businesses if our power sector continues to face the same old problems. The time for reform is now.”
Energy Minister John Jinapor supported this urgency. He assured Ghanaians of the government's commitment to reforms under the Energy Sector Recovery Programme (ESRP).
The meeting focused on improving operational efficiency and enforcing fair tariffs. They also discussed strengthening revenue collection and refining fuel procurement policies.
