Dr Williams Anarfi sues Kevin Taylor for $20m over defamation

Ghanaian medical entrepreneur Dr. Williams Anarfi Sarpong has filed a $20 million defamation lawsuit. He is suing US-based journalist Kevin Taylor and his media outlet, Loud Silence Media.

The lawsuit follows allegations made by Taylor during a Facebook Live broadcast. This broadcast occurred between February 26 and 28, 2025.

Dr. Anarfi's lawsuit was filed at the High Court of Justice in Accra. It claims that Taylor made “false and damaging” statements about him in several online broadcasts.

Court documents reveal accusations of fraudulent activities and improper dealings with the Ghanaian government. Dr. Anarfi, who owns Spintex Medical Center, has denied these allegations.

His legal team, Gomdah & Associates, called Taylor’s remarks “malicious fabrications.” They claim these statements aim to tarnish Dr. Anarfi’s reputation.

The lawsuit also states that Taylor exposed Dr. Anarfi’s family members by sharing their images and personal details publicly.

The court has ordered Kevin Taylor and Loud Silence Media to respond within eight days. If they fail to do so, they risk a default judgment.

This case highlights tensions between prominent Ghanaian figures and digital media personalities. There are growing concerns over the impact of unverified online commentary.

As of now, neither Kevin Taylor nor his representatives have publicly responded to the lawsuit.
