Driver to be arraigned in Court for transporting illicit ammunition from Benin to Accra

Salifu Jalilu, 38, will appear in court today. He is accused of transporting illegal ammunition from Benin to Accra.

On Friday, April 18, police stopped a bus during a routine check. This occurred at the Tadzewu-Mitsrikasa Police Barrier in the Akatsi North District.

During this operation, police intercepted a large amount of illegal ammunition. This raised concerns about possible arms trafficking.

The Volta Regional Police Command reported the seizure details. They found 60 cartons of AAA cartridges with 15,000 rounds and 72 cartons of BB cartridges with 18,000 rounds.

Two drivers were questioned after the seizure. It was revealed that Salifu loaded the consignment without informing the second driver, Abasou Fuseini.

Salifu was arrested and taken to the Regional Police Command. He will be presented in court today.

Abasou was granted bail and allowed to continue his journey. He can transport the bus and its passengers to Accra.
