The Centre for Democratic Movement (CDM) has criticized the Mahama administration. They say Ghana's power crisis is worsening. CDM warns that “dumsor has returned with alarming intensity.”
Despite resuming key infrastructure projects, the government lacks a credible energy recovery plan.
A major concern is the case of 1,300 “missing” containers from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG). These containers were initially reported lost at Tema Port. Later, they were said to have moved “legitimately.” CDM calls this situation “a damning indictment” of the administration’s oversight.
“This is not merely a bureaucratic mishap,” CDM stated. They believe it shows deep systemic issues and weak leadership. There is also a shocking disregard for transparency.
CDM demands an immediate forensic audit and prosecution of those involved in this scandal.
Additionally, CDM condemned plans to sell ECG to private interests. They view this as a “national security threat.” The movement emphasized that electricity is a right and a strategic asset.
On Free SHS, CDM criticized the decision to keep the double-track system until 2027. They called it “a betrayal of campaign promises.”
The organization believes more focus should be on efficiency and access to social services.
