ECG Warns of Power Outages in Accra Due to Fire
The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has issued a warning. Parts of Accra will face power outages. This is due to a fire at the Achimota Bulk Supply Point.
The fire occurred on Sunday, May 4, 2025. It damaged Station ‘H’ and several components. Reports say the fire started around 11:00 a.m. An explosion was heard before the flames erupted.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service responded quickly. They managed to extinguish the fire. However, some residents will still be affected by power cuts.
ECG released a statement about the situation. They listed areas that will experience outages. These include Achimota, Kaneshie, Kokomlemle, and Nima among others.
The company assured customers that they are working hard to restore power. They aim to have electricity back on by the end of the day. ECG expressed regret for any inconvenience caused.
Many Ghanaians reacted to ECG's announcement online. Some praised their early communication while others were skeptical. One user asked if Taifa Burkina was affected as well.
ECG responded promptly, asking for more details from customers without power. Others shared their frustrations about ongoing issues with electricity supply.
In related news, residents in the Western Region are also struggling with frequent outages. They are calling for government intervention to resolve these persistent issues quickly.
