The Executive Director of the Institute for Energy Security (IES), Nana Amoasi VII, has cautioned that Ghana’s persistent power outages, known as dumsor, will likely continue until the end of the year unless critical inefficiencies in the energy sector are addressed.

Speaking on Eyewitness News, he blamed the crisis on inefficiencies within the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), ageing infrastructure, and financial struggles among key energy sector players.

He noted that Ghana’s power generation capacity is barely keeping up with demand, with frequent shortages caused by fuel supply constraints and maintenance shutdowns.

Energy Minister John Jinapor has urged the public to remain patient as the government works on solutions.
