Dutch Ambassador to Ghana, Jeroen Verheul, has responded to Ghana’s Foreign Ministry’s concerns over the treatment of visa applicants, stating that the broad nature of the complaints makes it difficult for his embassy to take specific action.
His remarks follow a government directive urging foreign missions to improve service conditions for applicants amid rising public complaints.
Verheul acknowledged the need for improvement but noted that he receives few direct complaints.
Ghana ranks among African nations with high Schengen visa rejection rates, with a 43.6% rejection rate in 2022.
As migration interest grows, further discussions between Ghanaian authorities and foreign embassies are expected.
