E-Levy charges to be refunded by April 7 – EMIs Chamber assures public

The Electronic Money Issuers (EMIs) Chamber of Ghana has important news.

All E-Levy charges on mobile money and electronic transfers will be refunded. This applies to transactions made from April 2, 2025. Refunds will be completed by April 7, 2025.

The EMIs Chamber represents Dedicated Electronic Money Issuers (DEMIs). This includes AT Money, G-Money, Mobile Money Limited, Telecel Cash, and Zeepay.

This announcement follows a directive from the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA). On April 2, 2025, the GRA instructed all charging entities to stop applying the E-Levy. This aligns with the government’s decision to abolish it under the Electronic Transfer Levy (Repeal) Act, 2025.

The EMIs Chamber confirms that all member institutions are following this directive. They are actively processing refunds for any incurred charges.

To prevent further unintended charges, member institutions have set up safeguards. If an erroneous charge occurs, it will be promptly refunded by the respective entity.

The EMIs Chamber is committed to customer trust and transparency. They aim for full compliance with regulatory directives.

They continue to support the growth of Ghana’s digital financial ecosystem. Their goal is to ensure a secure and fair environment for all users.
