Dr. Mark Oliver Kevor, the Eastern Regional Chairman of the NDC, is pleased with the confirmation of all 33 MMDCE nominees. He credits this success to good communication with Minority Members of Parliament (MPs).
All nominees proposed by President John Dramani Mahama were confirmed in one session. There were no rejections, which is considered a significant achievement. Dr. Kevor believes this unanimous approval reflects a strong working relationship between NDC leaders and both NDC and Minority MPs.
He emphasized that they focused on candidates who would benefit the region. They selected individuals based on merit rather than political favoritism. The president nominated from their shortlist, and Dr. Kevor expressed gratitude for that.
In the Eastern Region, the NDC holds 8 parliamentary seats, while the NPP has 24 constituencies. Despite this imbalance, the confirmation process showed cross-party cooperation. The involvement of all MPs contributed to its success.
Dr. Kevor noted that the process aimed at advancing regional development rather than political gain. He praised the president's leadership for enabling a fair selection of nominees. “The one-touch confirmation shows that all nominees earned it through their contributions,” he stated.
