A tragic accident occurred involving a bus carrying students from Ben Kunadu SDA Basic School. The incident took place in Aseseeso, between Adukrom and Somanya, in the Ashanti Region.
Two schoolchildren have died, and several others are injured. The bus, registered as GV 83-22, belonged to Collins Senior High School in Asante Agogo. It lost control while going down Aseseeso hill and flipped multiple times before landing on its side.
The students were heading to Akosombo for an excursion when the crash happened. Eastern Regional Minister Rita Akosua Awatey was passing by and joined rescue efforts. She helped transport some injured students to Yilo Krobo Municipal Hospital in Somanya.
Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene. This included the Police, Ghana National Fire Service, and National Ambulance Service. Some bodies have been recovered, but the total number of casualties is still unclear.
There are concerns that more victims may be trapped under the wreckage. Authorities are continuing their rescue and recovery efforts. Investigations are also underway to find out what caused the accident.
