E/R: Man arrested for possessing firearms, ammunition at Nsawam-Adoagyiri

The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested a man for illegal possession of firearms.

The suspect is Abdul Rauf Salami, who lives in Adoagyiri Zongo. He was caught on Thursday, May 23, 2025, at about 9:30 p.m. This happened during a police operation in the Nsawam-Adoagyiri municipality.

The operation focused on all entry and exit points in Adoagyiri. This was in response to recent disturbances in the area.

During the arrest, officers found two pump-action guns and 64 rounds of AA ammunition. They also recovered a cutlass, a knife, and an ammunition vest from Salami.

He is now in police custody and helping with investigations. Salami is expected to appear in court soon.

The police assured residents they are taking steps to restore calm. "We will leave no stone unturned to ensure safety," said ASP Foster Owusu from the Public Affairs Unit.

He urged the public to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities.
