Academic activities at the Presbyterian Senior High Technical School in Aburi stopped on Friday, May 2. A severe rainstorm damaged several important structures in the school.
The storm lasted for hours and ripped off much of the dining hall's roof. It also affected the roofs of the Visual Arts, Business, and Technical classroom blocks. This disruption has impacted teaching and learning activities.
Students are now using the assembly hall as a temporary dining area. Unfortunately, this hall cannot accommodate over 3,000 students.
Mrs. Joyce Appiah, the Headmistress, described the situation as dire. She appealed to the government for immediate help to address these issues. Additionally, she requested beds for new boys' and girls' dormitories since old ones are in poor condition.
Lawrencia Adwoa Dziwornu, the Member of Parliament for Akuapem South, visited to assess the damage. She urged former students and charitable organizations to support the school during this crisis.
