Residents of Duayeden Nyanawase, a farming community in the Eastern Region, are frustrated. They lack basic social amenities and infrastructure.
For eight years, road conditions have deteriorated. This has hurt local businesses and made it hard for farmers to transport goods.
Mr. Stanley Hans Ofori is the Assembly Member for the area. He spoke to Accra FM/CTV news reporter Apelete Kofi-Michel about the neglect by local leaders.
He said the roads are in terrible condition and living standards have worsened. “We lack many essential services in this community,” he stated.
He mentioned that there have been no streetlights for eight years. Refuse dumps are everywhere, and school buildings are poor. Students also lack computers.
Additionally, they do not have clean drinking water or proper healthcare facilities. Pregnant women and children suffer due to these issues.
Mr. Ofori expressed his willingness to support government initiatives for improvement.
Nana Awere Gyaasehene, a traditional leader in the community, shared similar concerns. He expressed deep dissatisfaction with the ongoing neglect of Duayeden Nyanawase.
He highlighted the absence of roads, clean water, healthcare facilities, and communication networks as critical problems.
“Duayeden has been neglected for years,” Nana Awere said. “The lack of basic infrastructure is killing us.”
Residents voiced their frustrations with local leadership during an interview with Accra FM/CTV news. They called on the government to intervene immediately.
They warned that if nothing changes, they will take matters into their own hands. “We appeal to the government to come to our aid,” one resident said.
“If nothing is done, we will be left with no choice but to find our own solutions.”
