EC sets February 17 for Council of State election rerun in two regions

The Electoral Commission (EC) has scheduled a rerun of the Council of State elections in the North East and Ashanti Regions on Monday, February 17, 2025.

The decision follows a tie in the North East Region, where two candidates secured six votes each.

Meanwhile, the Ashanti Region's rerun was necessitated by chaos during ballot counting, which left the process incomplete.

In a statement on Wednesday, February 12, the EC assured the public that it has engaged the Ghana Police Service and the National Election Security Taskforce to reinforce security at the polling venues.

The Commission emphasized its commitment to ensuring a smooth and transparent process, free from any further disruptions.
