The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has apologized for issues arising from new smart meters, which some customers claim run faster and consume more power than previous models.
ECG has promised to reimburse customers with prepaid credits on old meters, with refunds credited to utility accounts.
Charles Nii Ayiku from ECG explained that the old meters had low efficiency, contributing to the discrepancies.
He urged affected customers to contact ECG via phone, social media, or district offices for refunds, acknowledging delays but emphasizing their commitment to resolving the issues.
