ECG containers likely misplaced, not missing – Dubik Mahama

Samuel Dubik Mahama, the former Managing Director of ECG, has denied reports about missing containers. He believes that over 1,300 containers may have been misplaced or moved to different terminals at Tema Port. Mahama remains hopeful that the containers can still be found.

The issue arose when an investigative committee was formed to look into the disappearance of these containers. These containers were part of a larger shipment for ECG's operations across Ghana. The committee reported that out of 2,491 imported containers, 1,357 are declared missing.

These missing containers contained essential equipment for ECG's electricity supply. In an interview on the Citi Breakfast Show on April 3, Mahama urged the public to stay calm during ongoing investigations by port authorities. He reassured everyone that the situation is not as serious as it appears.

Mahama suggested that patience is needed and emphasized that the containers might just be misplaced within the port's logistics system. He explained how shipping works and noted that each container has a unique number. "A container is not like a piece of paper," he said.

He encouraged allowing GPHA to search other terminals for the missing containers. Mahama expressed confidence that they are not truly missing but rather misplaced.
