ECG missing containers: Indian Businessman under investigation as 40 are retrieved

Minister John Jinapor confirmed the retrieval of 40 missing ECG containers. These containers were part of over 1,300 that went missing. An investigative report had highlighted this issue.

On TV3’s News Central, Jinapor shared details about the recovery. National security operatives traced the containers to a warehouse in Kpone. This warehouse is owned by an Indian businessman.

Jinapor stated, “They’ve traced about 40 of them to a particular terminal warehouse.” He added that all 40 containers have been confiscated and moved to a secure location.

The businessman claims he bought the containers last year. Law enforcement agencies are currently investigating this claim. Jinapor assured that efforts continue to track the remaining missing containers.

He also warned against politicizing the investigations. “When we start prosecuting these people, let no one say this is witch-hunting,” he said. He emphasized that these are state properties and they will use all legitimate means to retrieve them.
