ECG needs a fundamental rethink – Kwabena Donkor

Former Power Minister Dr. Kwabena Donkor has raised concerns about the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG)'s severe financial difficulties, likening it to a persistent problem similar to a biblical figure's condition.

He suggests that ECG requires a “fundamental rethink,” including possible privatization, as was done under the previous NDC regime.

Dr. Donkor criticized the low revenue collection by ECG and stressed the need for urgent structural reforms, though he proposed postponing significant changes until after the upcoming elections for a more thorough national discussion.
