The ECOWAS Commission has launched a new initiative.
This program aims to provide hot meals to schools in poor communities.
It focuses on increasing enrollment and improving education in the Upper West Region.
The three-year project is run by the Millennium Child Support Group (MCSG).
They are partnering with the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP).
Funding comes from Spanish Cooperation through ECOWAS's Regional Agency for Agriculture and Food (RAAF).
Eight schools across three districts will benefit from this project.
Four schools are in Sissala West, three in Jirapa Municipal, and one in Nandom Municipality.
Mr. Godfrey Ato Parker is the CEO of MCSG.
In an interview, he said the program aims to improve health outcomes.
It also seeks to boost academic performance and enhance community wellbeing.
Every student will receive a nutritious meal during school hours.
