Ebi Bright confirmed as first female Mayor of Tema

Ebi Bright has been confirmed as the mayor of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly.

Assembly members approved her with a vote of 28 “Yes” and 3 “No.” She is the 8th mayor and the first female to hold this position.

The confirmation ceremony took place at the assembly hall. Dignitaries attended, including Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, MP for South Dayi. He also serves as the Majority Chief Whip in Parliament.

Party members and supporters celebrated this milestone with joy.

In her acceptance speech, Ebi Bright thanked President John Dramani Mahama for her nomination. She also expressed gratitude to cabinet members, assembly members, and the people of Tema.

“Tema has been my home,” she said. “I grew up here and received my education here.” She feels honored to serve her community.

Ebi Bright acknowledged her family’s support: “I thank my husband, and above all, I thank God for this opportunity.”

Her confirmation marks a historic moment for Tema. Ebi Bright is now the first woman to lead the assembly.

She was sworn in by Greater Accra Regional Minister Linda Obenewaa Akweley Ocloo. Ocloo is also an MP for the Tema Metropolitan Assembly.
