Dr. Ishmael Yamson is the Chairman of the National Economic Dialogue Planning Committee. He is optimistic about the committee’s recommendations. These recommendations aim to support President John Dramani Mahama in “resetting” Ghana’s economy.
Dr. Yamson spoke at the formal presentation of the final report on June 4. He believes the recommendations are timely and meet Ghana’s current economic needs. He expressed confidence that President Mahama will find them useful for his agenda.
The committee considered ongoing global disruptions and uncertainties. Dr. Yamson emphasized building a resilient economy through self-reliance. He stated, “Resilience means self-reliance,” highlighting its importance during these challenging times.
He also mentioned that some suggestions have already been adopted into the 2025 national budget. These early implementations have shown positive results, which he finds exciting.
The National Economic Dialogue aims to encourage inclusive discussions for Ghana's long-term economic transformation.
