Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, criticized the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP). He accused them of repeating mistakes that led to their 2024 electoral defeat.
In a Facebook post, Dr. Boamah called the current NPP minority a “micro-minority.” He said the party is “sinking in the same mud” that caused their “most humiliating defeat in recent memory.”
Dr. Boamah noted that the economy is improving under President John Dramani Mahama. He stated that this improvement is benefiting Ghanaians. The government aims to consolidate gains from post-pandemic recovery.
He praised citizens and civil society groups for protecting the integrity of the 2024 elections. He claimed their vigilance prevented the NPP from manipulating the voters’ register.
“Thank God you all helped us to stop their attempts to rig,” he said. “We’ll stay focused on the ball.”
Dr. Boamah’s comments come amid rising political tensions in Parliament. There is also increasing scrutiny of Mahama's administration regarding economic stability and unemployment issues.
