Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, announced plans to resume nine Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) school projects. These projects were previously suspended due to economic challenges in the country. The government struggled to service its debts, which halted the initiative.
The TVET projects were part of a broader infrastructure development agenda led by Planet Core. However, they stalled during Ghana’s debt restructuring efforts.
During the inauguration of the National TVET One-Week Planning Committee on June 4, Iddrisu shared good news. President John Dramani Mahama has officially approved the continuation of these projects.
Iddrisu expressed his happiness about this decision. He stated that these schools are part of government-approved initiatives that will benefit many. He noted that the initiative was initially undertaken by Planet Core but was paused due to financial issues.
Now, with presidential approval, work on the TVET schools can continue. This is a positive step for education in Ghana as it aims to enhance vocational training opportunities.
