Education Minister inaugurates c’ttee to review licensure

The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, inaugurated a committee last Friday. This seven-member committee will review the Teacher Licensure Examination (TLE). They will propose an alternative to the current examination format.

Mr. Kwami Alorvi, an educationist, will chair the committee. Other members include Professor Samuel Atintonu from PRINCOF. Mr. Moses Baman Amadu Snr represents the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT). Mr. Adokwi Ayikwei-Awulley is from PRETAG (CCT-GH).

Additional members are Mr. Michael Akanvibe Ayuraboya from NAGRAT and Dr. Samuel Awuku, an education consultant and key policy advisor for T-TEL. Mr. Nimako Owusu Dorme is the Director of Assessment and Examination at NTC.

During the inauguration, the Minister emphasized the government's goal to end TLE. He stated they aim to explore alternatives for ensuring teachers' professional status in Ghana.
