Education Minister tasks GETFund board to prioritise basic school funding

A new 17-member board for the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) was inaugurated last Friday. The ceremony took place in Accra and was led by Minister of Education Mr. Haruna Iddrisu.

The board is chaired by Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah. It includes Masawudu Mahama from the Ministry of Finance. Rev. Dr. Cyril Gershon Kwao Fayose represents religious bodies. Other members are Mr. Anthony Kwasi Sarpong, Executive Secretary of the Revenue Agencies Governing Board, and Mr. Paul Adjei, Administrator of GETFund.

Mrs. Mamle D. Andrews represents the Ministry of Education. Prof. Ahmed Jinapor Abdulai is from the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission. Mr. John Awuah represents the Ghana Bankers Association.

Additional members include Mr. Seth Kobla Aklasi from the Ghana Insurers Association and Patience Ablah Ganyo from the National Pensions Regulatory Authority. Rev. Prof. John Frank Eshun represents Technical Universities, while Ms. Philippa Larsen is from the Ghana National Association of Teachers.

Mr. Daniel Nii Korley Botchway represents both the National Union of Ghana Students and the Ghana National Union of Polytechnics Students in rotation. Grace Amey-Obeng is from the Association of Ghana Industries, while Ms. Francisca Atuluk represents the National Council on Women and Development.

Mr. Alexander Frimpong is from the Ghana Employers’ Association, and Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis represents the Ghana Education Service Council.
