The Education Minister, Haruna Iddrisu, addressed the new Governing Council of the Chartered Institute of Human Resource Management (CIHRM). He urged them to take strong action against workplace harassment. This is especially important for young women.
During the inauguration ceremony in Accra, he emphasized women's rights and welfare. Many victims suffer in silence due to fear and stigma. They often lack institutional support.
“Too many young women are silently enduring harassment and exploitation at work,” he stated. He called for an end to this situation. Women should not be taken advantage of while seeking decent employment.
Mr. Iddrisu challenged CIHRM to lead reforms for safe workspaces. The Council must collaborate with government and private institutions. They need to enforce strong HR policies that protect all workers from abuse.
He highlighted that CIHRM sets HR standards in Ghana. This gives them a unique role in driving change and influencing labor policy. The new Council will provide strategic oversight for the Institute's contributions to human resources in Ghana.
