Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu has tasked an eight-member National Education Forum Planning Committee to explore sustainable funding solutions for Ghana’s Free Senior High School (SHS) policy.
Acknowledging financial challenges, he urged the committee to propose ways to ensure timely and adequate student feeding.
Chaired by Prof. George K.T. Oduro, the committee has two weeks to submit recommendations. It will engage key stakeholders, including students, parents, educators, and policymakers, to shape a national education framework.
The minister also highlighted infrastructure shortfalls in tertiary education, calling for strategies to absorb increasing SHS graduates. He emphasized President Mahama’s commitment to addressing inequities in education.
The committee pledged to work swiftly to meet expectations.
