Edudzi Tamakloe, the Director of Legal Affairs for the NDC, has welcomed an injunction application. This application was filed by suspended Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo. Tamakloe described it as “quite refreshing.”
Justice Torkornoo was suspended by President John Mahama. This suspension followed a petition for her removal under Article 146 of the Constitution. She has now filed an application at the Supreme Court. The application seeks to bar Justices Gabriel Scott Pwamang and Samuel Asiedu from participating in her inquiry.
The move comes after allegations that these justices met privately with a lawyer involved in the case. Former Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah Dame filed the application on her behalf.
On Eyewitness News, Tamakloe called this legal challenge “an interesting one.” He noted its significance due to the specific reliefs being sought and the injunction request. He emphasized fairness and due process in these proceedings.
Tamakloe pointed out that Justice Torkornoo will now experience the justice system she once oversaw. He expressed hope that she would receive all constitutional opportunities as a citizen of Ghana. He concluded by saying he finds this situation quite refreshing.
