Godwin Edudzi Tameklo is the Director of Legal Affairs for the NDC. He called the injunction application by suspended Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo “quite refreshing.”
Justice Torkornoo has approached the Supreme Court. She seeks to stop two justices from participating in an inquiry into her conduct.
President John Mahama suspended her under Article 146 of the Constitution. This followed a petition for her removal.
Torkornoo challenges Justices Gabriel Scott Pwamang and Samuel Asiedu's inclusion. She cites concerns over a private meeting with a lawyer involved in her case.
Her application was filed by former Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah Dame.
On May 21, Edudzi Tameklo spoke on Citi FM about this legal move. He found it “interesting,” especially regarding the reliefs and injunction request.
He noted that this application allows Torkornoo to experience due process. She now faces the justice system she once led.
Tameklo expressed happiness that she will see how the system works. He believes everyone deserves justice, including leaders like her.
He hopes the proceedings will be fair and constitutional. “I believe she will receive all opportunities as a citizen,” he said. “I think it’s quite refreshing.”
