Eid ul-Fitr celebration turns violent in Kasoa; 3 injured, 1 in critical condition

A street carnival marking Eid-ul-Fitr in Kasoa turned violent following a clash between two rival youth groups, resulting in three injuries, including one in critical condition.

The fight erupted between youth from Walantu and Odupongkpehe Zongo, who had an existing feud but had restrained themselves during Ramadan.

However, tensions flared during the celebrations, leading to the violent altercation.

One victim, a female, recounted, "I was having fun when the violence erupted. I felt a sharp cut on my hand."

Police swiftly intervened, arresting one suspect and recovering dangerous weapons, including a hammer.

Authorities say efforts are ongoing to apprehend more suspects linked to the clash.

The incident has raised concerns about security measures during festive gatherings in the area.
