Eight sanitation offenders have been arrested in Awutu Senya East Municipality. They were caught dumping refuse in the Central Business District (CBD) of Kasoa. An ad-hoc task force established by the Assembly made the arrests. All suspects were apprehended while committing the offense.
After their arrests, the offenders faced court proceedings. Some cases have concluded, resulting in fines for those guilty. Municipal Chief Executive Seth Sabah Serwonoo-Banini spoke to Citi News on May 15. He shared that the Assembly is enhancing sanitation enforcement efforts.
Plans are underway to launch a main task force soon. This task force will include members from all state security agencies. Their goal is to intensify patrols and arrest offenders. “We have apprehended eight persons,” he stated.
A dedicated team of about 40 people will support sanitation efforts. They will also address traffic congestion issues in the area. The initiative aims to strengthen collaboration with local security agencies.
The police have shown enthusiasm for this effort. ASP Emmanuel Amponsah, Kasoa District Police Commander, supports the initiative as well. “We will ensure residents abide by sanitation rules,” he affirmed.
