The Minister for Energy and Green Transitions, John Abdulai Jinapor, has issued a warning. He cautioned State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) against misusing electricity. Power is no longer free and must be fully paid for.
Mr. Jinapor emphasized the need for a change in attitude towards electricity consumption. This change is essential to avoid serious financial issues in the energy sector.
In an interview with Metro TV on Wednesday, March 26, he warned of dire consequences. "Power is no longer free," he stated. "We must all pay for the power that we use."
He pointed out that effective energy management requires collective effort. This effort is crucial for ensuring sustainability in the sector.
Mr. Jinapor also stressed the importance of efficiency in power usage among SOEs. He accused these enterprises of excessive consumption without proper financial accountability.
He urged institutions to focus on energy conservation and compliance with payments. This will help reduce pressure on the national grid and government resources.
"If we don’t change our attitude, we will run into huge problems," he warned again.
The Minister reiterated the government's commitment to enforcing payment regulations. He called for stricter measures to prevent financial losses in the energy sector.
