The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has shared mixed feelings about the 2025 budget. They see some positives but have major concerns about the overall plan.
At a press conference on March 26, NPP's Director of Communications, Richard Ahiagbah, praised Parliament for repealing the e-levy tax. He called this decision a positive step for the country.
Ahiagbah said, “Eliminating the 10% betting tax and e-levy is a good aspect of the budget.” He noted that if they had won the 2024 election, they would have repealed these taxes to ease financial burdens on Ghanaians.
However, he raised concerns about the budget's structure. He suggested that without these tax cuts, it fails to meet people's needs.
He stated, “Without these taxes removed, the rest of the budget offers little.” Ahiagbah also mentioned widespread dissatisfaction with the budget. He said, “Discontent with this budget is not new; it's no secret that we oppose it.”
Mr. Ahiagbah assured everyone that the NPP will keep discussing the budget. He added, “In coming days, we will talk with the public about it.” He expressed confidence that Ghanaians would realize choosing NDC over NPP was a mistake.
