Emergency Medical Technicians call for urgent govt support to improve services

Ghani Michael Dimungso, the President of the Emergency Medical Technicians’ Association of Ghana (EMTAG), has called for urgent help. He urged the government and stakeholders to support EMTAG members. He highlighted serious issues affecting emergency medical services.

Dimungso spoke at EMTAG’s week celebration on May 23. The event took place at the Traders’ Union Congress in Accra. He pointed out the ongoing "no bed syndrome" in hospitals. This issue has troubled the health sector for decades.

He noted that this problem impacts emergency medical service delivery. Dimungso also proposed banning hearses from using sirens. He argued that this practice causes confusion during emergencies.

“The use of sirens on hearses creates a nuisance,” he said. It misleads the public during real ambulance responses. He urged lawmakers to pass laws against this practice.

The event celebrated EMTAG's achievements in improving emergency services. It aimed to promote collaboration among Emergency Medical Services. Additionally, it sought to raise public awareness about their vital role in healthcare.
