Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, spoke at the University of Education, Winneba (UEW). He highlighted the importance of educational institutions in Ghana's future development.
During a public lecture on April 11, 2025, he said, “The 21st century presents immense opportunities and complex challenges.” He stressed the need for a dynamic and inclusive education system.
Dr. Apaak represented the Minister for Education at the event. The minister was attending the inauguration of the Ghana Education Trust Fund Board. Dr. Apaak affirmed support for the theme: Empowering Minds, Shaping Futures for the 21st Century.
He stated, “We are committed to creating an ecosystem that supports lifelong learning.” This includes teacher development and integrating digital tools. However, he noted that policy alone is not enough.
Dr. Apaak urged UEW lecturers and stakeholders to innovate beyond traditional methods. He emphasized that teachers should be facilitators of learning and role models.
To students present, he said, “You are the future of this nation.” He encouraged them to embrace lifelong learning as a pursuit. Their curiosity will shape Ghana’s future and beyond.
He concluded with a quote from Nelson Mandela: “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
The event took place at the Jophus Anamuah-Mensah Conference Centre. Scholars, students, and stakeholders gathered to discuss transforming education for a better Ghana.
