Empress Gifty Sues Agradaa For ¢200bn

Empress Gifty Oppong Adorye Sues Agradaa for Defamation

Gospel musician Empress Gifty Oppong Adorye has filed a lawsuit. She is seeking GH¢20 million (200 billion old cedis) from Patricia Aseidua, known as Agradaa. The suit was filed on May 20, 2025, at the High Court in Accra.

Empress Gifty's lawyer, Sam Kyere Esq., represents her in this case. The lawsuit seeks four main reliefs. The primary claim is for GH¢20 million in damages for alleged defamatory statements made by Agradaa.

These statements were reportedly made during live broadcasts on social media platforms like Facebook and TikTok. Empress Gifty also requests a perpetual injunction against further defamatory remarks. Additionally, she wants Agradaa to remove existing videos and audio recordings containing these statements.

Empress Gifty hosts UTV's popular shows United Showbiz and U-Cook Show. She is an internationally acclaimed gospel musician and won Best Traditional Gospel Song at the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards. She is married to politician Mr. Hopeson Adorye and has four children.

Agradaa is a former fetish priestess turned evangelist and leads the Heavens Way Church in Weija, Accra. She has a significant social media following.

Empress Gifty claims that Agradaa's remarks stem from ongoing tension with her husband. On May 13, 2025, Agradaa allegedly attacked Mr. Hopeson Adorye during a livestream. She made slanderous comments about Empress Gifty that reportedly harmed her reputation.

The plaintiff states that these remarks have affected her standing in the music industry and public perception. Her children have faced ridicule at school due to the situation.

Some of Agradaa's comments included derogatory references to Empress Gifty’s character and marriage. These comments were described as “unprintable” and intended to tarnish her image among fans.

Empress Gifty seeks court intervention due to the damaging nature of these words. Agradaa has eight days to respond to the lawsuit either personally or through legal counsel. If she fails to respond, it could lead to a default judgment in favor of Empress Gifty.
