The Minister of Energy, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, has inspected approximately 2,500 uncleared containers at the Tema Harbour, procured by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) under the previous administration.

These containers, holding critical materials, have incurred demurrage charges totaling GHS 1.5 billion.

During the inspection, the Minister expressed deep concern over the inefficiencies leading to this financial burden, calling the situation unacceptable.

Hon. Jinapor pledged to prioritize the clearance of the containers to prevent further losses and facilitate vital energy projects.

He assured the public of measures to improve resource management, inter-agency coordination, and accountability, aiming to enhance efficiency within the energy sector and support Ghana's development objectives.
