Ensure due process in Wontumi’s case – Dormaahene

Osagyefo Dr. Fredua Agyemang Badu II is the Dormaahene. He is also the President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs. He has called for strict adherence to due process in an ongoing investigation.

The investigation involves Bernard Antwi Boasiako, known as Chairman Wontumi. He is the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Chairman Wontumi faces serious charges, including fraud and money laundering.

Deputy Attorney General Justice Srem-Sai shared updates on social media. The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) is handling the case. Asset recovery efforts are underway to secure suspected proceeds of crime.

During President John Dramani Mahama’s “Thank You Tour,” Osagyefo Dr. Agyemang Badu II spoke about fairness in law enforcement. He emphasized that if someone does wrong, they should be held accountable.

He stated, “If I have offended, bring me to book.” However, he added that innocent individuals should not be targeted.

While he admires Chairman Wontumi, he insists no one is above the law. “Due process must work,” he said regarding investigations into wrongdoing.

Osagyefo Dr. Agyemang Badu II criticized Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin's recent protest at EOCO headquarters. He found it inappropriate for him to sit on the floor during his protest.

He humorously suggested that Afenyo-Markin should inform him before such actions so he could provide a seat. His comments reflect growing calls for transparency in high-profile political investigations.
