Ethiopia does not want war with Eritrea, says PM

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has emphasized that his country does not seek conflict with Eritrea, despite ongoing tensions. During a recent press conference, he reiterated Ethiopia's commitment to peaceful relations and highlighted the importance of dialogue in resolving disputes. Abiy's remarks come amid concerns over military movements along their shared border and the historical backdrop of a brutal war between the two nations from 1998 to 2000.

The Prime Minister acknowledged regional instability but stressed the need for cooperation rather than confrontation. He called for efforts to foster peace and mutual understanding, suggesting that both nations would benefit from stable relations. Abiy's comments reflect a broader desire within Ethiopia to move past historical grievances and focus on constructive engagement with Eritrea, aiming to strengthen ties for future prosperity in the Horn of Africa.
