Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has dismissed rumors about Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang's health. He called the reports “vicious” and “unGhanaian.”
Speaking to Ghanaians in Lagos, Nigeria, he reassured everyone that the Vice President is healthy. He urged people to ignore the speculation circulating on social media.
“I want to assure you that she is doing very well,” he said. “Your prayers have really helped. I have heard from her, so I know what I’m talking about.”
“Please ignore all that vicious and unGhanaian propaganda,” Ablakwa added.
His comments respond to online chatter suggesting the Vice President had died after a short illness. Previously, he clarified there was no cause for concern and that she would soon resume her duties.
The Vice President reportedly fell ill after work on Friday, March 28, 2025. She was receiving treatment at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC).
A statement from Government Communications Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu on Sunday, March 30, indicated medical experts advised her to seek further treatment abroad.
