The Deputy Attorney General, Dr. Justice Srem-Sai, has dismissed claims that National Security operatives stole money and jewellery during a search at former Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Ernest Addison's home.
On JoyNews PM Express on March 24, Dr. Srem-Sai said Dr. Addison has not filed any official complaint about missing items.
He called the allegations made by the Minority in Parliament baseless.
Dr. Srem-Sai stated that if something is lost, the first step is to report it to the police.
He noted that no reports have been made regarding this incident.
The Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, accused National Security operatives of taking GH₵10,000 and jewellery belonging to Dr. Addison’s wife during the search.
However, Dr. Srem-Sai rejected these claims as attempts to ridicule officials doing their jobs.
He emphasized that there is no evidence supporting the Minority's allegations about the search team being "hungry boys."
Dr. Srem-Sai urged the Minority to refrain from making such accusations without basis.
He stated that if Dr. Addison has grievances, he should file an official complaint instead of letting others make unverified claims.
Dr. Srem-Sai reiterated that everything was conducted cordially during the search and investigations can only begin with a formal complaint from Dr. Addison himself.
