Ex-NSB boss' prosecution must proceed to uncover any rogue operation – Bright Simons

Bright Simons, Honorary Vice President of IMANI-Africa, has called for action against Kwabena Adu-Boahene. He is the former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB). Simons wants his prosecution to continue without delay.

On JoyNews' Newsfile programme on May 10, he stressed the importance of legal processes. These processes can reveal any secret operations linked to national security.

Simons criticized a leaked memo from Adu-Boahene. The memo claimed that questioned funds were used for sensitive intelligence activities. He described it as a "smokescreen" meant to intimidate authorities into dropping charges.

He questioned why national security agencies would use a senior spy's name for confidential operations. This raised doubts about the credibility of Adu-Boahene's claims.

Simons pointed out investigations showing that funds were misused. They were spent on luxury items like high-end real estate and vehicles. He asked how buying a Lamborghini relates to bribing MPs for favorable laws.

He emphasized the need for reforms in auditing national security spending. Current systems fail to detect financial mismanagement in intelligence operations.

"The Auditor-General is not fit for this purpose," he stated. He believes it struggles with organized misuse of public funds.

In conclusion, Simons urged the state to provide clear information to the public. This transparency will help ensure justice is served fairly and without bias.
